Henry Cavill says he’d rather make tons of money than earn critical raves
by jill on April 27th, 2008
Henry Cavill’s chiseled good looks apparently have caught more eyes than simply those of The Tudors casting agents. He nearly scored the role of 007 in Casino Royale and was a contender for the leads in Batman Begins and Superman Returns.
‘Course we all know how that turned out. After a string of similar disappointments, he almost left the business.
But Cavill, who smolders on The Tudors as Henry VIII pal Charles Brandon, now looks like he’s doing OK in Hollywood. He just finished filming Creek, a Joel Schumacher flick about a Nazi experiment, and he’s been cast opposite Evan Rachel Wood in Woody Allen’s new film, in production now. Find out what he’s making of his Hollywood heartthrob status after the jump.
Black Book magazine asked him how it feels to be a heartthrob and Cavill, who was discovered by a casting agent on a tour of English boarding schools, said it ain’t bad — he gets a lot of “favors” for being eye candy. He also said if he had to choose between being a character actor and a superstar, he’d take the later: “As much as I enjoy the art of acting, and getting deep into a character, Hollywood blockbuster stuff comes with a $130 million package.” Cute and honest. Who knew?
